it drives me crazy that my parents only act when there’s a fire lit under their ass

like don’t you ever get sick of living like that?

don’t you ever wish you had a plan set up?

like they are just now fixing problems (problems that literally take an afternoon to handle) that the house has had for the entire decade we’ve been living here. they are only just now fixing it because we have an inspector coming to the house on wednesday re: the insurance policy.

it’s just frustrating because they have no genuine pride of ownership. the house is in complete disrepair yet they expect me to just hand over the mortgage payment when they decide they’d rather do other things with their money (waste it on bs). idk idk it’s just super frustrating to me because why should i (or an insurance company) put money into something that they don’t even value. like they are not doing any of this work because they care about the house. they are only doing it because someone finally put the pressure on.

the only reason we even have heat and hot water currently is because i’m paying our (outrageously costly) gas bill. they barely even acknowledge that i did that and they have not offered to help at all. otherwise we would have been without that too, because that doesn’t make their list of priorities. 

like they already skipped a court date about the house last year, basically ignoring the fact that the house is not up to code. the roof now leaks (even though they’ve known it was a problem since before purchasing the house), and that’s not even being addressed. instead, my dad just painted over the water damage for the inspection. ugh i could go on and i’m sure this post makes me seem like a judgemental brat but please just remember that you don’t know the full story, only what i type here, and that this is a situation that has bugged me for some time.

idk long story short a LOT of people are NOT cut out to be homeowners and if you’re not sure, you’re probably not cut out for it
